The founding of the Particular Baptist Fund in the early eighteenth century came at an important juncture for the Baptist community in England and Wales. State persecution of the community during the last third of the seventeenth century had left ongoing issues, not least of which had to do with theological education and the financial welfare of the ministers of the community congregations. This new historical study is an excellent essay-like overview of the central place that this fund has had in the various streams of Baptist life.
